Christian Leeck, born in 1981 in Wuppertal, Germany, graduated in 2003 in Italian Studies and History (1st state examination in teaching). Since 2013, he has been an associated researcher at the Chair of Ancient History at the University of Wuppertal. He has a profound knowledge of the history and topography of the three western Sicilian poleis, Selinunte, Himera and Akragas, and their respective hinterlands. As part of his doctoral project in ancient history, he researched the Selinuntine Chora in the area of tension between the ásty, the neighbouring polis of Agrigento, and the indigenous settlement system.
