Description

Everyone knows Don Giovanni , the incorrigibly libertine protagonist of Mozart's famous opera of the same name, who refuses to repent and faces eternal damnation. Few, however, remember his impudent, ambiguous and meticulous servant Leporello . But who is this fascinating character really? Only the heir of Harlequin and the other servants of the Commedia dell'Arte? Should we still consider him his master's alter ego and typical comic sidekick, or can we re-evaluate him as a complex character, with dramatic nuances and a penchant for melancholy?

With this study, the author Eleonora Paradisi Miconi takes us on a fascinating journey to discover the history, drama and evolution of Leporello through a profound and unprecedented analysis.
