Crete, around 1450 BC. The Minoan people are starving and from the north the Achaeans are spreading their influence and threatening to invade the island. Ide, daughter of the Archon of Phaistos, is to be married to Agathon, the prince of Pylos, as a pledge of trade and thus secure a strong alliance. Although her heart belongs to Geros, the fleet captain of Phaistos, she must set out for distant Pylos. On the dangerous journey, she has doubts as to whether the marriage actually serves the alliance. Can she trust Agathon? Or is the marriage part of a devious plan by which the Achaeans want to gain control of Crete themselves? Little by little, strange things happen in Phaistos that confirm Ide's suspicions.
This historical novel is characterised by an exciting, engaging and detailed narrative that makes immersion in Bronze Age Greece a pleasure.

About the author
Leipzig-based author Heike Wolff lives two literary passions. Her stories take us to foreign worlds and eras. She also writes short texts that deal with the "here and now". She has been performing on Leipzig's reading stages since the 1990s and has been running the Open Reading Stage in Delitzsch since 2017. She has published fantasy and science fiction short stories in anthologies and magazines. Every year, she travels to Greece with her husband. This explains her particular fascination with the island of Crete and Minoan culture, which she now shares in this historical novel.
