João Cerqueira, born and living in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, holds a doctorate in art history and is a multi-award-winning author. His novel Perestroika, first published in Portuguese, brought him international acclaim. Cerqueira has published nine books to date and his works are published in countries including Spain, France, Great Britain, the USA, and Brazil. He has received twelve literary awards for his work, nine of them for Perestroika.
